Lauren received her B.S. in Social Science Education: Lifelong Learning and her M.A. in Educational Leadership (K-12) from the University of Central Florida (UCF). She started her academic advising career at the UCF College of Education and Human Performance, advising all "Education Pending" and "Elementary Education" majors. Prior to Lauren’s current role in the UMD Department of Computer Science, she worked at the University of Maryland University College assisting active-duty military and Veteran students with their academic careers. Her primary areas of research include (1) Animal-Assisted Intervention (AAI) for students with learning disabilities and (2) resources for students who identify as LGBTQIA in higher education settings, particularly those pursuing STEM-based majors. Lauren enjoys taking her dogs on road trips, playing soccer, and reading biographies.
