Director of Corporate Partnership Development

The students (at both the undergraduate and graduate levels) and faculty/researchers who study computer science and its application to real world problems are in very high demand. This has created an opportunity for these students and researchers, the units that educate these students and support these researchers, and the entities who would like to hire these students upon graduation and collaborate with these researchers who are on the cutting edge of their field. In response to this opportunity, the Department of Computer Science and the University of Maryland’s Institute for Advanced Computer Studies (UMIACS) have created the “Corporate Partners Program”. Partners pay a sponsorship fee to join the program. In return, they gain access to a highly qualified pool of potential future employees and/or research collaborators. The Department of Computer Science and UMIACS use these funds to enhance the education and research missions of their programs. The students have the opportunity to learn about potential employers prior to entering the job market, researchers have access to potential collaborators and they both reap the benefits of the increased resources directed toward the programs in which they are participating.

The Department of Computer Science and UMIACS see potential for incredible growth in this initiative and seek to hire a Director to strategically overhaul, implement, and manage a more highly evolved and sophisticated “Corporate Partners Program” as well as strengthen relationships and opportunities with corporate, foundation, and government funders more generally. This position will require significant travel, 60% of the time.

Minimum Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree, at least seven (7) years of progressively responsible fundraising experience, at least two (2) years of supervisory experience, some event planning experience, and a track record for securing corporate donations is required. Applicants must be able to provide evidence of a comprehensive strategic perspective necessary to imaginatively align corporate donors with programmatic initiatives and giving opportunities. Successful record working with staff, affiliates, and volunteers to plan and execute successful events and to ensure an integrated and organized program is essential as are excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.


Experience in marketing, communications, and working in a higher education environment is highly preferred.
